My mom is Austrian and used to make this cabbage dish. I changed some things to make it a bit healthier.

  • Wok or big frying pan
  • Cutting Board
  • Good knife

  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion chopped
  • 1 tbsp chopped garlic
  • Salt, pepper and thyme
  • 1 pkg farfalle nooldes (bowtie pasta)

  • Heat the olive oil in your pan, add the chopped onion and garlic and saute over medium-high heat
While that is cooking quarter the cabbage, cut out the core and cut into 1" strips (not lengthwise)
When the onions and the garlic are glassy add the ground turkey, season with salt, pepper, and thyme. Cook over medium heat until the turkey is fully cooked. (no more pink)
Add the cabbage, you may have to do this in stages, depending on the size of your pan. Mix it all, cover, and let it cook over medium heat. Stir every so often so that all the cabbage gets cooked, season some more if needed.
While the cabbage is steaming, cook you pasta.
Serve the cabbage of pasta. You can add a little soy-sauce if you like at the table.
